The Return of the King: Isildur1 ran up a deposit on Phenom Poker to $3.77 million in a month

Viktor Blom, better known as Isildur1, found himself back in the spotlight of the high-stakes scene in April 2026. On April 8, the Swede deposited $13,600 into his Phenom Poker account, and by the end of the month his balance on the platform had reached $3,771,319. Based on Phenom Database figures, this is one of the most notable upswings of the year in online poker and Blom's most spectacular stretch online in a long time.

Who is Isildur1 and why his name still sparks interest

Isildur1

Blom remains one of the most recognizable figures in the history of online poker. In 2009, at the age of 19, he burst onto Full Tilt Poker under the nickname Isildur1 and rapidly became one of the most talked-about players in the industry. At the peak of his initial run, the Swede earned over $5 million playing against the strongest regulars, including Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan, and Phil Ivey. And it wasn't just about the money: Blom dictated the style. Relentless pressure, huge overbets, intuitive hero calls.

But the main spectacle of 2009 was still ahead.

The "swings" that went down in history

In just one month, Blom lost all his profit and went deep into the red — at the same speed with which he had built it up. First he lost $3 million to Antonius in a single Omaha session. It was in that very session that a hand occurred which remained a record for more than ten years: the Finn took down a $1.35 million pot, and Blom cemented his reputation as a man capable of crazy pots.

Next came a session against Phil Ivey in hold'em, the Swede's best discipline. The result: minus $3.2 million in a week.

The final blow came on December 8. The Swede sat down to play against Brian Hastings and lost $4.2 million in just 5 hours. That loss still stands as the largest in a single session in the history of online poker.

Isildur1's identity was officially revealed on January 8, 2011, at the PCA, when PokerStars introduced Blom as their new ambassador. Over the years he also worked with Full Tilt Poker and Unibet. He has long held the reputation of a player who doesn't shy away from action: Blom willingly sat down against the strongest opponents, and because of this he became one of the central figures in high-stakes poker.

Beyond online, Blom also proved his class with major results. His track record includes a win in the PCA 2012 Super High Roller for $1,254,000, titles in major online series, and a first place at partypoker MILLIONS Germany in 2018, where he earned $1,046,153.

In 2024 at the WSOP, the Swede finished third twice in expensive tournaments: first in the $50,000 High Roller ($951,727), and then in the $100,000 High Roller, where he received his personal record live-tournament cash of $1,311,091.

A years-long pause: what happened to Isildur1 before April 2026

In recent years, Blom appeared online noticeably less often than during his peak period. After ending his partnership with Unibet in 2018, his activity became less visible, and for a significant part of the audience Isildur1 gradually turned into more of a symbol of online poker's golden era than a regular participant in the current scene.

That's exactly why his April appearance on Phenom Poker drew heightened attention. It wasn't just a strong run, but the return of a player whose name in itself still works as a media event for the high stakes.

Starting with $13,600: how Blom's April comeback began

On April 8, Blom deposited $13,600 into his Phenom Poker account. Even though he is an ambassador of the room, his activity on the platform had been limited up to that point. However, in early April the Swede really got into the high-stakes action.

Viktor began playing at tables with stakes of $2,000/$4,000 and quickly picked up the pace. Within just ten days, his initial deposit had grown to $1.75 million. Then came a tough week: the Swede dipped into the red by $1.8 million, but managed to climb out of that hole and come out ahead by $1.3 million. After that he continued to play regularly until the end of the month, only occasionally taking breaks.

$3.77 million: a one-off episode or the start of a new stretch?

By the end of April, Blom's balance on Phenom Poker had reached $3,771,319. Based on the database's public figures, this is the Swede's most spectacular stretch since his arrival in the room and one of the most notable results of the spring.

Isildur1

Viktor's April upswing remains a significant event. It doesn't prove a full-fledged return of Isildur1 to regular play at the very highest stakes, but it shows that the Swede is still capable of influencing both the agenda of the high-stakes scene and the interest in it.

The main question now is whether April was a one-off occasion or the beginning of a new, full-fledged stretch online.
