Artur Martirosyan becomes a four-time WSOP champion
Artur Martirosyan won the $25,000 NLH High Roller 6-Handed event at the World Series of Poker. The Russian regular claimed the fourth bracelet of his career and earned $1,286,285.
At the final table, Martirosyan knocked out Clemens Reuter, Marius Gierse, and Yosuke Miki. He faced Pavel Pleshuv heads-up, who had made a full house on the river with pocket nines against the pair of kings held by Sean Winter.
At the start of heads-up, Pleshuv had 76 big blinds and Martirosyan had 74. The battle was a long one. Only after an hour did the Russian pull ahead with a three-to-one advantage. Then the gap widened to 8 to 1, and Martirosyan got his first chance to finish off his opponent. However, Pleshuv with K♠️4♥️ caught a straight on the river against the Russian's A♣️5♣️.
Only an hour after that did the decisive hand take place. Pleshuv moved all-in preflop with A♥️9♣️, and Martirosyan called with pocket fours. After the turn of 2♥️10♣️K♠️Q♠️, the Moldovan player still had ten outs. For example, he needed a jack for a straight, but the river brought the 5♣️, which let Martirosyan's pair hold up. Pleshuv finished second, earning $857,510.
"A WSOP bracelet is something special. We had very deep stacks heads-up, we played for about three hours. But I was ready to play another three," Martirosyan told Poker.org after the win.
Artur Martirosyan won his first bracelet in September 2023, taking down an online heads-up championship. In December of that year he won the $800 Flip & Go in the Bahamas, and last year he won a live heads-up championship in Las Vegas.
