Phil Hellmuth withdraws from WSOP tournaments due to COVID-19
17-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth is skipping World Series tournaments after testing positive for COVID-19. The player announced this on his social media on Friday.
"Why have I missed so many great WSOP tournaments this week? I've got COVID, sadly… I won't play until I get a negative test"
WSOP policy provides for a full buy-in refund for medical withdrawals before a tournament starts. Previous major illness-related withdrawals at the WSOP include Daniel Negreanu in 2022 and Jason Koon in 2023.
