Poker player in Vegas penalized over the "six-seven" meme
Amateur Ian Ovil faced a penalty for a joke about "six-seven." The incident happened on day two of the Bar Poker Open tournament with a $400 buy-in in Las Vegas. Regular Joshua Bergman went all-in from UTG, and everyone folded around to Ovil on the BB.
Ovil looked at his cards and, laughing, showed everyone the ♥️: "Everyone knows what I have. This might be my daughter's favorite hand! If it's 67, I've got to play it!" However, the dealer told the amateur that he wasn't allowed to expose his cards, and called the floor. Ovil explained to the floor that he was just joking, and that his second card was a ♦️, so he wanted to fold. The casino staffer, however, explained to the player that prematurely exposing a card is a violation and carries a penalty.
The staff allowed Ovil to fold his cards, but after that he was removed from the table for a full orbit (7 hands). The amateur then returned to the game and even made the final table with the sixth-largest stack. The winner of the event will get $100,000. As for Joshua Bergman, he busted in 15th place, earning $1,800.
