Jared Bleznick criticized the broadcast of the $250K Super High Roller final at the WSOP
Commentator Jared Bleznick, during the live broadcast of the final table of the $250,000 Super High Roller at the WSOP, expressed displeasure at the feed switching over to the $5,000 Seniors High Roller. The incident occurred when five players remained at the table.
Bleznick addressed the broadcast producers:
Why are we watching a $5K seniors tournament when one of the most prestigious tournaments has five players left?
Co-host Ali Nejad explained that the stream format allows both events to be shown without missing key hands, but Bleznick demonstratively took off his headphones until the feed returned to the high roller.
Drew Gonzalez called the commentator's behavior disrespectful toward the WSOP producers and his colleagues. Player Tyler Phillips noted that for the participants of the Seniors High Roller final, this moment could have been the highlight of their careers, and called on Bleznick to apologize.
Part of the community supported Bleznick's stance, pointing to the priority of top tournaments in the broadcast schedule. Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Rob Kuhn came to his defense:
Bleznick is possibly the best commentator in history. His enthusiasm and ability to build hype make poker a spectacle. And who cares if he gets a read on a situation wrong somewhere. He breaks down hands in a way that makes them understandable even to amateurs, and that's the most important thing.
