Phil Hellmuth ready to return to the WSOP after COVID-19

17-time World Series champion Phil Hellmuth announced that he tested negative for COVID-19. The record holder for the most bracelets is ready to return to play and take part in the Poker Players Championship.
"Hey, guys. So, no COVID. I got tested around midnight and got a negative result. So I'm very happy to be back at the World Series of Poker. I think I missed about a week. Someone else would be upset that they couldn't play some tournaments. But what happened, happened. Let's just see if I can put on some great poker tomorrow. I'll give it my all.

You know, the Players Championship is probably the most important tournament of them all. There's a great field of players there, so I'm looking forward to it. Day 2 starts at 1 PM [Las Vegas time, 11:00 PM Moscow time]. You can buy in until about 6 or 7 PM. See you at the Players' Championship," Hellmuth said in a video posted to his X account.

On June 20, Phil Hellmuth reported that he had missed a number of WSOP tournaments due to a positive coronavirus test. The 61-year-old pro also did not play on Day 1 of the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship.
