Maria Ho: the industry is missing out on the female audience
Professional player and commentator Maria Ho stated that women's engagement in poker is growing slower than expected. In an interview with PokerOrg, she described the current pace as a "turtle's pace" — according to Ho, the changes should have been happening faster.
Ho noted that certain figures, such as Kristen Foxen, Cherish Andrews, and Seina Okamoto, have established themselves in the high-roller circle. However, the overall influx of women into the game remains insignificant.
"The industry is missing out on a large part of the audience," she emphasized, adding that the environment for women is still not friendly enough.
In her opinion, to accelerate change it is necessary to motivate women to move from online to live poker. Ho will join the WSOP 2026 commentary team alongside Norman Chad and Jeff Platt.
