Richard Allsup wins WSOP Monster Stack and $1.3M
American player Richard Allsup became the winner of the $1500 Monster Stack tournament at the World Series of Poker, taking home $1.3M in prize money. The tournament drew 11,933 entrants, with the prize pool exceeding $12.1M.
In the heads-up, Allsup defeated Sal Dicarlo from Missouri, who earned $900,000 for second place. In the decisive stage, Allsup was behind in chips, holding just 20 big blinds, but managed to turn the game around. He employed an unconventional tactic — limping into every pot and not making a single raise throughout the entire final battle.
For Allsup, this is his second WSOP bracelet — he won his first in 2022 in the $800 Deepstack tournament. The win moved him to second place on the list of Minnesota's most profitable players: he now has about $4M in winnings to his name.
He also became the third player from Minnesota in a week to reach heads-up for a bracelet. Before him, Randy Jacks and Jason Hoffman both finished second in their tournaments. After his win, Allsup stated that he now intends to hunt more actively for the third.
