Phil Hellmuth criticized his opponent after busting out of the $10K PLO Hi-Lo at the WSOP
Phil Hellmuth posted an emotional statement on social media after busting out of the $10,000 PLO Hi-Lo 8 or Better tournament.
The hand took place at the end of the second day of play. On the turn, Hellmuth made the top two pair, then shoved his remaining stack against an opponent who had him covered. The opponent, holding the worse two pair and minimal redraws, made what Hellmuth called a "terrible call." On the river came one of three outs — an Ace, which gave the opponent the better hand and Hellmuth a ticket out of the tournament.
Hellmuth hasn't won a WSOP bracelet since 2023. Since the start of the 2026 summer series, he has registered only three in-the-money finishes.
"I'm tired of losing hands like this over the last three or four years. I'm going to put my money in with the best hand day after day, week after week, month after month, until I get 24 bracelets."
