Yuri Dzivielevski wins his sixth bracelet in the $100,000 High Roller and sets a new best cash
Yuri Dzivielevski became the winner of the $100,000 NLH High Roller at the World Series of Poker. In the heads-up, the Brazilian regular pulled off a comeback against Teun Mulder, claimed the sixth bracelet of his career, and recorded his best cash, earning $2,841,432.
Dzivielevski entered the high roller only on the final level of late registration. He explained that he wasn't ready to start the event on day one after busting two tournaments in a row. The rest did the Brazilian good — he finished day two with the second-largest stack.
Dzivielevski began the heads-up against Mulder as the chip leader, but the Dutchman moved in front fairly quickly and then built himself an almost 5-to-1 chip advantage. The Brazilian managed to double up, in one hand making jacks and tens on the turn against his opponent's pocket deuces.
Then Dzivielevski once again seized the lead. He was again helped to scoop a big pot by two pair — jacks and deuces against Mulder's ♠️♣️, whose flush draw didn't come in.
And soon it was all over. Dzivielevski limped with ♦️♣️, Mulder raised to 4,800,000 with ♠️♠️. The Brazilian responded with a 3-bet to 25,050,000, covering his opponent's remaining stack. The Dutch player called all-in. The flop ♣️♠️♣️ gave Mulder hope for a backdoor flush. However, the ♣️ came on the turn, and Dzivielevski picked up second pair and a flush draw, while Mulder was left with only two outs — ♦️ and ♥️. The ♠️ river didn't improve anyone, and Dzivielevski claimed his sixth bracelet. Mulder couldn't win his first WSOP title, but he earned $1,894,242, almost matching his best cash.
It's worth noting that Yuri Dzivielevski drew level in bracelet count with players such as Jason Mercier, Jeremy Ausmus, Kristen Foxen, T.J. Cloutier, and Chris Ferguson. After the win, the Brazilian could barely hold back tears and first thing called home. The six-time champion said he experienced such strong emotions against the backdrop of his wife's pregnancy — she is due to give birth to a son in mid-July.
"I came to the series without my family. My wife is pregnant. That, together with the win, brought me to tears. I was much more emotional than usual. Unfortunately, I'll have to miss the Main Event at the end of the series, but for the best possible reason," Dzivielevski told PokerNews.
