Dealer made a mistake in the decisive hand of the $500 COLOSSUS
The $500 COLOSSUS tournament at the World Series of Poker, which drew 16,269 entries, ended with a dealer's mistake. In the event's heads-up, Justin Smith and Miles German faced off. The dealer started the first and final hand from the button instead of the big blind, even though the rules state that the button should be dealt a card last.
However, the players didn't notice this mistake. German, on the button, was dealt pocket eights and immediately moved all-in. Smith, who held the chip lead, called with ♠️♥️. After the ♣️♥️♥️ flop, German maintained the advantage, but after the ♥️ turn and ♥️ river, Smith completed a flush. The engineer from Washington State won his first bracelet and earned $550,000, increasing his total career winnings by almost 10 times. Before this, Justin Smith had won $59,657 in live tournaments.
Miles German also recorded a best cash, taking home $367,000. Note that eighth place in COLOSSUS went to two-time WSOP bracelet holder Eric Baldwin, who earned $76,000.
