🟡Alex Anton wins $678,300 in the Mystery Bounty tournament
Alex Anton became the winner of Event #51: $10,000 Mystery Bounty No-Limit Hold'em. The tournament drew 558 entrants, and the total prize pool exceeded $5.18M.
Anton came to the final table as the chip leader and confidently held his advantage until the end of the day. In the final duel, he dispatched Frenchman Julien Sitbon in just 20 minutes. On the turn the American made a straight with 7-6, while Sitbon moved all-in with pocket tens and was left drawing dead.
For first place, the 25-year-old Alex Anton earned a career-record $678,300 and his first WSOP bracelet.
"Before, I just grinded away in my 'cave,' and my family never saw any of it. But today my girlfriend got to come and watch it live. I'm sitting here, not in my boxer shorts in front of a computer screen, so that's cool."
🟡Zachary Grunberg wins the first-ever WSOP bracelet in 5-Card PLO
American Zachary Grunberg became the winner of the debut WSOP tournament $1,500 5-Card PLO. The tournament drew 1,319 entrants, the prize pool came to $1,750,973, and the winner took home $271,552. This bracelet was Grunberg's third of his career.
The final hand against Hokyou Lee of Hong Kong ended quickly. Grunberg made a wheel straight from ace to five on the turn, and his hand held. Lee couldn't find an answer and finished second for a payout of $180,230.
Grunberg had previously won two WSOP online events, both times in hold'em. After the win, he noted that a live bracelet "means a lot more," expressing hope that 5-Card PLO will secure a permanent spot on the WSOP schedule.
