Canadian Abhishek Mhatre became the winner of Event #56: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em at the 2026 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He took home $492,050 in prize money and his first gold bracelet. The tournament drew a field of 1,150 entrants, with a prize pool of $3,075,500.

In the heads-up, Mhatre faced 2014 WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson, starting the duel with a huge chip lead — nearly 6:1. The decisive hand came quickly: the Swede shoved all-in with J-8, and the Canadian called with 10-9. The nine that came on the flop gave Mhatre the winning pair. Jacobson collected $327,370 for second place.

For Mhatre, this victory was the greatest achievement of his life. Before this tournament, the newcomer had only two modest cashes to his name.

"I didn't prepare at all, because I love my main job. I've never studied anything for tournaments, I just play for fun"

The event's field featured a whole array of star names: Faraz Jaka, Joey Weissman, Anthony Spinella, Barak Wisbrod, Maria Konnikova and Colin Robinson, Nick Schulman and Jonathan Tamayo — all exited the tournament at various stages of the final day.
