The $50,000 Poker Players Championship continues at the World Series of Poker. Several more renowned players busted in the early stages of Day 2, including Daniel Negreanu, who won the tournament in 2024.

Negreanu lost the rest of his chips in a Seven Card Stud hand against Dylan Weisman and Kane Kalas. Weisman folded on fifth street, when the seven-time WSOP champion had backdoor flush and straight draws with a queen-high. On sixth street Negreanu put in his last 1,000 chips, but Kalas had already made an ace-high flush, and on seventh street he also improved his low hand. Negreanu busted in 80th place.

Right before the Canadian, Esther Taylor ended her run at the Players Championship; she had finished third in the tournament in 2025. Soon after, Calvin Anderson (78th place) and Naoya Kihara (76th place), who each won two bracelets at the current series, busted as well, along with Shaun Deeb (77th) and Nick Schulman (74th). Re-entries are not allowed in the Players Championship.

According to WSOP Live, at Level 12 of Day 2 the chip count is led by Christopher Tong with a stack of 242 BB. During the day, Phil Ivey (18th place, 79 BB) and Phil Hellmuth (15th, 90 BB), recovered from COVID, joined the tournament. Russians Maxim Pisarenko (7th, 108 BB) and Alexander Kostritsyn (32nd, 41 BB) also remain in the game.
