"I want to win another bracelet." Jamie Gold leads after two days of the $500 SALUTE to Warriors
2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jamie Gold has announced his intention to compete for another Main Event bracelet. The film producer is also aiming for victory in the $500 SALUTE to Warriors tournament, where he leads the chip count after Day 2.
"I had just one goal: to win the Main Event. I did it on my very first try, and that spoiled me a little.
I'm coming back to the Main Event this year. I really want to win another bracelet. I'd be thrilled to win the Main Event again — that would be incredible. But if it doesn't work out, a trophy in the SALUTE to Warriors would also be a good result," Gold said in an interview with PokerNews.
After two days in the $500 SALUTE to Warriors event, 35 players remain out of 4,478. Jamie Gold leads the chip count with 15.7 million chips. Behind him are Jeevan Lobo of India (14.85 million) and Sho Shiratori of Japan (10.27 million).
In 2006, Jamie Gold won the WSOP Main Event, defeating Paul Wasicka heads-up. The film producer earned $12,000,000, which is the fifth-largest payout in the history of the World Series.
